Anti-seepage Structure in Landfill Project

When it comes to the anti-seepage structure of geosynthetics in landfill systems, it typically comprises three essential components: a protective layer, a supporting layer, and an impervious layer. Each of these layers plays a crucial role in ensuring that the landfill system remains secure and free from leaks. The impervious layer is responsible for preventing any liquids from penetrating the waste storage area, while the supporting layer provides a stable foundation for the entire structure. Finally, the protective layer offers additional safeguards against erosion, UV damage, and other potential hazards that could compromise the integrity of the landfill. By incorporating these three layers into the design of a landfill system, engineers can create a highly effective and robust solution that helps to keep the environment safe and clean.

Geomembrane Landfill hdpe liner The primary function of an anti-seepage layer, such as a geomembrane or geosynthetic clay liner (GCL), is to hinder the migration and leakage of liquids or gases. These layers act as the fundamental components of impermeable structures, effectively preventing any undesired flow.

Currently, the most commonly used materials for impervious engineering in China are HDPE geomembranes and PVC geomembranes. However, it is worth noting that BPM Geosynthetics only specializes in the production of PE geomembranes.Landfill hdpe liner.

When it comes to managing water storage and hydropower projects, a certain amount of seepage is generally acceptable, and a seepage structure composed of a single layer can still be effective.

Multi-layer impervious structures are essential in strict anti-seepage projects like evaporation oxidation ponds and wastewater ponds, where leakage is strictly prohibited. These projects require the implementation of multiple layers of impermeable materials to prevent any seepage or leakage.

The drainage layer typically consists of two or more layers of geomembrane or GCL, with a layer of drainage geonet sandwiched between them.

To ensure the geomembrane is not punctured by sharp objects such as gravel and debris on the surface, it is common practice to lay a protective layer of geotextile underneath. This protective layer acts as a barrier, preventing any potential damage to the geomembrane caused by external elements.

How to Lay Geomembranes in Landfill

Laying geomembranes procedures

1)When laying the hdpe linerWhen it comes to laying steps, there are several factors that need to be taken into consideration. The temperature of the area where the steps are being laid is one such factor. The surrounding environment is also important and can have an impact on how the steps are laid. Additionally, attention must be paid to the actual process of laying the steps themselves and making sure they are done correctly. Only by considering all of these factors can the best results be achieved.

To prepare the landfill for use, the first step is to level the bottom of the site. Once this is done, it's important to manually dig up any underground water and create flower-pipe grooves according to the design specifications. Then, the remaining soil should be moved around the bottom of the landfill, making room for the installation of impermeable materials. Finally, these materials should be applied in layers starting from the bottom and working up. By following these steps, the landfill will be properly prepared for use and minimized potential environmental risks.

2) Technological process:

The construction process for laying the HDPE impermeable film in the reservoir bottom plane involves several steps. Firstly, a 30cm thick pebble groundwater diversion layer is rammed into place. Then, a filament geotextile with a density of 200g/m2 is laid over the diversion layer.
Next, a 30cm thick clay layer is spread evenly, followed by the application of a bentonite cushion with a density of 4800g/m2. This cushion is 2mm thick and serves as an additional barrier against water infiltration.
The impermeable film, made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), is then carefully spread out and joint welding is performed to ensure a complete seal. A filament geotextile with a density of 600g/m2 is placed on top of the HDPE film for added protection.
A 2cm thick layer of medium coarse sand is spread over the geotextile, followed by the placement of a long silk geotextile weighing 200g/m2. This silk geotextile acts as a barrier between the sand layer and the subsequent pebble leachate diversion layer.
Finally, another filament geotextile with a density of 200g/m2 is laid over the leachate diversion layer, serving as an additional protective covering. The primary waste is then placed on top of this layered construction.
When laying the HDPE impermeable film, it is important to consider the specific conditions of the construction site. Typically, the process begins from the slope and then moves on to the bottom of the dump. The slope is covered from top to bottom, while the bottom of the dump is covered in an opposite order, starting from the bottom and moving upwards. This sequence ensures that the HDPE film is properly installed and provides maximum containment for the waste materials.

BPM Geomembrane Service

GeomembranesThe success of any impervious project depends greatly on the quality of welding used in geomembranes. It is imperative to ensure that the welding done is of the highest standard possible so that the project is completely water-resistant. As such, welding quality should be given top priority throughout the project.

Besides the best quality geomembranes, BPM company has a professional construction team, can go abroad and supply welding installation services.

Our welders can communicate in fluent English and have many years of overseas construction geomembranes experience.
